Dr. Honickman’s unrelenting pursuit to help others overflows into his family life. Loving husband to his wife and dedicated father to his son. He understands the importance of family and treats his patients with the same care and respect.
Neal A. Honickman, MD is a vitreoretinal specialist. He brings over 10 years of experience in evaluating and treating serious eye diseases. A crucial member of the Brandon Eye Associates team he offers patients specialized care close to home.
Dr. Honickman earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He completed his internship and transitional residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. At the University of Florida he finished his residency in ophthalmology. He then completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease at the University of Oklahoma Dean A. McGee Eye Institute. He became Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in June 1998.
Through continuous study Dr. Honickman is able to provide his patients with the most progressive and advanced technologies available. He has proven success with leading-edge treatments for eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, and retinal detachments and he was one of the first physicians in the Tampa Bay area to offer Lucentis injections for treating macular degeneration – the leading cause of blindness for those over 50.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Medical Association. He also maintains his diplomat status with the National Board of Medical Examiners.
